Starting today, applications can be submitted for the brand-new KIN Knowledge-in-Action grant, this time for proposals in the field of Collective Water Management in East Brabant. KIN has developed this new grant to bring science and practice together to promote fair climate transitions. The starting point is: learning by doing and doing while learning. With this Knowledge-in-Action Grant, we challenge knowledge institutions and social organisations to submit joint proposals for transformative, experimental projects in the field of Collective Water Management in East Brabant: which solution directions, research questions and transition learning objectives can accelerate the desired transition in this region? And which intervention will make that possible?
Who is it for?
Applications can be submitted by practical organisations experimenting with climate solutions, researchers who want to use knowledge for transformative social impact, pioneers who are already working on (sustainable) alternatives, or anyone who wants to connect science and practice for climate transition. Collaboration is key. That is why your team must consist of employees from at least one knowledge institution and at least one social organisation based in the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
About Collective Water Management East Brabant
Collectief Waterbeheer Oost-Brabant is the latest KIN programme, which kicked off just before the summer. In the future, climate change will mean we will have to deal with even more enormous amounts of water and extreme drought. In East Brabant, the parties involved are already experiencing the consequences of climate change first-hand: high water levels, heavy rainfall and drought are forcing a transition in water management. The region is already committed to improving and developing spatial and technical solutions such as storage, management and purification, but this no longer seems sufficient. A transition to collective water management can offer a sustainable and equitable solution here. The Knowledge in Action Grant aims to enable the parties involved to take steps in this direction together.

The context of East Brabant is unique and special, but at the same time it symbolises what is happening in many places in the Netherlands. Working locally can also provide insight into more generic challenges, barriers and preconditions in the transition to collective water management that are relevant everywhere.
Proposals can be submitted until 14 October at 14:00 CEST.
Are you planning to submit a proposal? We encourage you to express your interest here. This way, everyone can see who wants to submit a proposal on which topic, and new collaborations may arise.
