Kick-off ACT Programme: From Urban Challenges to Concrete Action

On 13 November, the ACT programme was officially launched with an inspiring kick-off event. Policymakers, researchers, and city representatives came together to take the next steps in accelerating a just climate transition. Through interactive presentations, interviews, and group discussions, the event not only set the tone for the programme but also laid the groundwork for further collaboration and integration. Read this blog for an overview of the day and insights into the participating cities.

Looking Back at the Third Make-aton: Connections and Cross-Pollination for a Climate-Resilient Netherlands

On 17 October, experts, policymakers, and scientists gathered for the third and final session in the first Make-aton series within the National Climate Adaptation Strategy (NAS). After months of intensive work (starting with Make-aton 1 + 2 and continuing over the summer by the core team), this was an important meeting. The various adaptation pathways developed in previous sessions were refined, and the interconnections between challenges were mapped. It was a day full of interaction, new insights, and above all, collaboration.

The Make-atons through the eyes of IenW project leader Chantal Oudkerk Pool

In less than a month, it will already be time for the third and final Make-aton, which we are organizing in collaboration with the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management (IenW) for the National Climate Adaptation Strategy (NAS). Around 70 people will be present to provide feedback on the adaptation pathways developed by the core team. This is not the end, however; the deadline for delivering the final Make-aton product is set for October 31.

With that milestone in sight, we look back on the previous Make-atons and the summer in which the core team worked hard to create these adaptation pathways. But how has the lead of the NAS revision experienced the process so far? Chantal Oudkerk Pool shares her story in this blog.
