The women-led Indigenous speakers, Yvonne Belen, Audrey Christiaan, Fátima Delgado Medina, Etta James, Skylar Joseph, and Carolina Sanchez De Jaegher, shared stories that challenged dominant ideas of progress. In their talks, the common message is that energy transition is not only about technology or materials, but also about the values shaping how we source, share, and care for critical raw materials. The talks also highlighted the fact that Indigenous wisdom, often called “traditional” or “alternative”, has long sustained ecological balance and continues to do so. Following the panel, participants reflected on the deeper challenge of transforming systems that have historically excluded these worldviews. The conversation moved beyond inclusion toward imagining how institutions can learn from and be reshaped by Indigenous knowledge to truly steward change.
This event is organised by the KIN Pact Working Group Indigenous Liberation Month x Just Transitions Network.
