KIN Creatives Network: the importance of art in the climate crisis

Since its inception, KIN has recognised the importance of imagination, creativity and art in tackling the climate crisis. We believe that systemic change is not only technical or policy-related, but also cultural, emotional and imaginative. In order to truly think and act differently, we also need artists: creators, thinkers and dreamers who help us imagine different futures.

That is why, a few months ago, we launched our own Artist in Residence programme, which is the result of the work of the Art and Science working group. We are currently exploring a Knowledge-in-Action programme on imagination, and there is a lively Signal group, the KIN Creatives Network, where updates are provided, opportunities are shared and meetings are organised.

In addition, within the Imagination programme, we are looking for ways to better involve art and creativity in transdisciplinary research and embed them in our current funding instruments. We do not fund individual (art) projects.

We are delighted to have a large group of creative people who recognise the need for transition and are committed to working towards it. Are you an artist, designer or creative professional and would you like to join the Signal group? Please send a message to pact@hetkin.nl.
