We are delighted to share that, since the end of November, Sissel Marie Tonn has joined the KIN team for the coming year as our first Artist in Residence! Originally from Denmark, Sissel lives and works in The Hague, at the artist community See Lab — and perhaps the Scheveningen sea has seeped into her practice. At the core of her work is a deep interest in all that connects and flows through our bodies and environments. Through her Studio Sentinel, she works closely with other creatives, scientists, and communities to explore the ever-intriguing question of where our bodies might be perceived to end, and the environment around us to begin.
What she is most excited about in working for one year at the KIN is learning more about their vision of bringing systems thinking into interdisciplinary collaborations, and exploring how art can help dismantle barriers to imagining and realising a more just and ecological way of being for all.
