The Netherlands has a large number of (university) climate centres and institutes. Since last year, nine climate centres have been meeting periodically in a national consultation chaired by Prof. Dr. Caroline Katsman, Climate Advisor at the KIN.
The KIN initiated this consultation in 2024 to discuss how we can jointly tackle challenges, learn from each other to address urgent climate issues in society, and better facilitate transformative, transdisciplinary collaboration. Among other things, explorations are underway for a joint programme on stimulating carbon removal techniques within ethical frameworks, and an impact working group has been set up.
