Art and Science

The Art and Science Working Group connects artists and scientists in different regions to make local climate stories tangible and relatable.

The Art and Science Working Group develops and coordinates the Warming Up on Tour programme, an initiative in which an artist and a scientist are paired up in different regions to create a local climate story together. These stories are presented in local cultural centres and together form The (Climate) Story of the Netherlands, a mosaic of experiences and insights about climate change from different parts of the country.

The working group develops the methodology, guides the duos and reflects on the different ways in which art and science can collaborate. This takes place around the annual international climate summit (COP), where Warming Up on Tour also ties in with the broader public debate on climate change.

Art and science can reinforce each other when this collaboration is given space. An artist’s mindset and imagining what desirable futures might look like can help advance transitions. With the support of the KIN Pact, the collaboration is being deepened and scaled up nationally, so that art and science come together structurally in climate communication.
