Knowledge for Policy

The Knowledge for Policy working group focuses on strengthening complex (climate) policy tasks with scientific knowledge.

The Knowledge for Policy working group, established in 2024, consists of members of the Science for Policy team (Ministry of Education, Culture and Science) and other Pact members from knowledge institutions and the arts and policy sectors. In February 2024, the group, together with lecturer-researchers Martijn Van Gessel and Bertrand Burgers (speculative designers at the HKU), ventured into nature, armed with crowbars, microscope and Petri dishes, to study the perspective of non-human neighbours and to exchange ideas about the value of art and design in ecological issues and transdisciplinary knowledge. During the session, the name “Knowledge for Policy” was born; to emphasise the breadth of knowledge and the value of knowledge from both theory and practice, from climate and policy and from the creative sector and citizens.

In 2025, the working group will build a Community of Practice, while a project group will work on a relevant and shareable product.

CoP meeting Knowledge for Policy

On Thursday 11 September, the Knowledge for Policy working group is organising an on-site Community of Practice. Pact member and co-founder of the Leiden Sneller Duurzaam network Maarten Stoffers invites you to look at national programmes on knowledge and policy from the perspective of sustainability at city and neighbourhood level.
