The KIN Pact Network Grant was launched in December 2024 to accelerate the formation of transdisciplinary networks focused on climate transitions.
With this grant, KIN aims to promote and professionalise cooperation between different stakeholders and disciplines and the application of knowledge on climate transition themes.
A condition for eligibility for the KIN Pact Network Grant was that the networks (yet to be established) applying for the grant had to be transdisciplinary. This means that the network must consist of more than one substantive discipline and more than one type of organisation (knowledge institution, social organisation, government, companies, etc.). The applications were assessed on the extent to which the plan was in line with the objectives of the KIN Pact. This call for the Network Grant ran until the end of April 2025. A new round of the Network Grant will open for the third time in June 2026.
The Network Grant has been awarded in two rounds to 19 new transdisciplinary networks that will focus on a wide variety of current themes and urgent issues as working groups within the KIN Pact. These range from a working group that brings together art and science, to the Heat Lab in Rotterdam, the Utrecht initiative De Autoluwe Stad (The Car-Free City) and the Climate Obstruction working group, which brings together misinformation experts to identify the forces working against climate transition. The networks whose applications have been approved will work as working groups within the KIN Pact until the end of 2026. The scheme is currently being evaluated. It is not yet known whether there will be a follow-up scheme. The networks that have had their applications approved will work as a working group within the KIN Pact until the end of 2026. Following a review, it was decided to launch another round of funding in June 2026.
