Climate-Resilient Sandy Soils Knowledge Network: bridging research and practice

This network brings together researchers, policymakers and practitioners who are working on climate-resilient solutions for sandy soils in the Netherlands.

HAS green academy, Wageningen Universiteit, Het Pon en Telos, Provincie Noord-Brabant

Dutch sandy soils are under increasing pressure due to climate change. Prolonged droughts, water shortages and extreme precipitation are affecting nature, agriculture and the drinking water supply.

Researchers and industry partners are applying and developing new knowledge about climate-resilient water and soil systems, but the exchange between research and practice is not yet sufficiently ensured.

The Climate-Resilient Sandy Soils Knowledge Network brings together researchers, government agencies, water managers, farmers and civil society organizations to share knowledge and experiences. Through networking events and a digital platform, we strengthen collaboration, knowledge utilization, and the application of insights to support the transition to climate-resilient sandy soils.

Report on the Climate-Resilient Sandy Soils Network Day

On Monday, June 1, 2026, the first Climate-Resilient Sandy Soils Networking Day took place at the Dutch Water Museum in Arnhem. During this event, the Climate-Resilient Sandy Soils Knowledge Network was officially launched.

The network aims to connect research, policy and practice, stimulate the exchange of knowledge and develop new collaborations addressing the challenges facing Dutch sandy soils. The networking day focused on knowledge sharing, inspiration and networking.

Under the motto “Let water and knowledge flow,” participants jointly explored how to work toward climate-resilient sandy soils, with a focus on hydrological resilience, area-specific collaboration, the “sponge effect” and the connection between science and practice.aaf
